Visit Oxford Castle - Unlocked with your class and explore 1000 years of history. Discover the story of Oxford Castle and Prison in context through the lives of its inhabitants. The site can be used to develop students’ thinking skills and teach History, Geography, Citizenship, Literacy and much more.

Group visit

Duration:	For the tour only we recommend you allow 1 – 1 ½ hours.
Group size:	Up to 35 students (1 class), or 65 students (2 classes) if booked with a workshop. One adult is admitted free with every 10 children. Free familiarisation visit for group organisers.
Admission:	£3 per child (£4 per child with a workshop).
Parking:	There is a dedicated coach drop-off point for schools on site and coach parking close by. Details will be sent with booking.
Lunch:	Cloakroom facilities and lunch space can be booked as part of your visit.

All teachers booking a group visit will receive a free Teachers’ Pack with essential visit information and ideas, devised in collaboration with practising teachers. See the ‘Groups’ section for further details and how to book a visit.

Workshops

Extend your experience at Unlocked – Oxford Castle and make the most of your visit by booking a workshop with the Learning and Access Officer. Workshops can only be booked in conjunction with a group tour.

Workshops will offer a mix of activities including evidence handling, role play, literacy development and creative art. They can be tailored to your needs. Suitable for KS1 – KS4, sessions can be linked to National Curriculum History, Geography, Citizenship, Literacy, Design Technology, Art and much more.
